The Greats - Ustad Zakir Hussain

The Greats - Ustad Zakir Hussain & Niladri Kumar | Union Chapel, London | November 2022

Ustad Zakir Hussain needs no introduction as one of the foremost artist in global music. Having honed his craft under the tutelage of his late father, the legendary Ustad Allarakha, Zakir Ji quickly made a name as a young virtuoso in the ancient Indian rhythmic art of Tabla.

Accompanying Ustad Ji will a maestro of the next generation of musical stalwarts from the Indian sub continent. Niladri Kumar has been a force in the innovation of the iconic sitar & maintaining its roots deeply in the traditional fold.

The evening marks a tribute to one of India’s greatest Tabla artists, the late Pandit Sharda Sahai Ji. A master performer he was also well known for his educational work throughout the UK, North America & India. We pay respects to this great artist for his work within the field of Indian classical music and his immeasurable contribution to the world of Tabla.
